Design & Digital Communications Assistant - Casual - Approx 10 hours/week

The Migrant Justice Institute is Australia's leading research, policy and advocacy organisation working to end the exploitation of international students and other migrant workers. We are hiring a Design and Digital Communications Assistant (approx. 10 hours/week, casual, from July 2026) to help us turn findings from our landmark survey of 10,000 migrant workers into compelling, accessible reports, graphics, presentations and other digital content, drawing on MJI templates. You'll work in InDesign, Illustrator, Canva, PowerPoint, Squarespace and MS Office (Word and Powerpoint) alongside a small, passionate team. You will work remotely or (if you prefer) at our office at the UNSW Faculty of Law & Justice in Sydney. We're looking for someone with strong design skills, relevant experience, meticulous attention to detail and enthusiasm for responsible use of AI in design. The role is paid at the SCHADS Level 2 casual rate ($44–47/hour) plus 12% super. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. International students and candidates from migrant backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

We are often able to support intern placements at MJI. If you are a university student who is interested in doing an internship in legal research and/or public policy and engagment in respect of migrant justice, please contact us at contact@migrantjustice.org
